The Commander Tartar has also turned many Octolings into Sanitized Octolings, which destroy their free will and ability to have emotions. Octolings are elite Octarian fighters that are the octopus equivalent to an Inkling. They also appear in the Octo Expansion where the player can choose to play as a male Octoling if they want but despite this, every enemy Octoling in this mode will still be female. Judging by the hat and the plant under the Octarian's arm, it could be a humanoid DJ Octavio. In one of the Sunken Scrolls, there appears to be a humanoid form male Octarian and Cap'n Cuttlefish. It should be noted that in the later stages of Hero Mode, these upgraded versions of Octolings may appear and are harder to splat than regular Octolings. These elite Octolings with black tentacles and seaweed on the sides are elite sildiers. The Octolings like the Inklings can have a large variety of tentacles and Ink colors but the ones that serves as enemies either have red tentacles or black tentacles. Octolings appear to have the most aggressive AI when compared to other Octarians, and can pull off any move the player can. Octolings may have been the main opponent of the Inklings in the Great Turf War. It appears that only female Octolings are in Hero Mode, but DJ Octavio may be an Octarian with the ability to transform between two forms at will. They make up an elite corps of the Octarian forces, and are heavily armed with bombs and ink guns. Octolings can switch between octopus and humanoid form at will. Once the baby reaches the first stage of life on the chart, the mother will give birth in the same way as a human would.Like Inklings they have the ability to transform, but into octopuses. The baby will being to swim around inside the mother and slam into the walls of her womb in much the same way a human baby would kick their mothers. At this point the females womb has been filled with all the nutrients and substances the baby need to continue developing. Eventually the egg will hatch while still inside the female. As the baby grows inside the egg, the egg grows along with it and creates the "baby bump" on the female that we are all familiar with. But instead of the egg becoming an embryo once it's fertilized, it remains an egg and begins to develop the baby while it is still inside the female.

Just like with humans, the female of the species carries an egg inside her that must be fertilized by the male. However the development process inside the womb is very different. Inklings and octolings reproduce the same way as humans do. Also until Nintendo comes out and tells us the real way, it's what I go with in my universe. This journal will explain my theory on how inklings, octolings and any other humanoid species we have yet to see develop while inside the womb.
