Because they knew players would burst against adding this thing if they ever did. A single broadside salvo of SAP shells from this contains the same if not more hitting power of an 800kg AP bomb. This thing is a 1920s super dreadnought that currently boasts the biggest, most powerful guns in the game and also the thickest and the heaviest armor. There are battleships and then there's the Hyuga. Because there's only 5 minutes left on the timer. Oh what's that? You just spent 20 minutes burning and knocking out a Dreadnought? Too bad now spend 20 more killing it again. Now because of the absurd repair costs, battleship players just buy tons of backups for their BBs so they can respawn after dying to bypass the repair cost. The worst thing about facing battleships is that some big brain at Gaijin thought increasing their repair costs to astronomical amounts (I’m talking 50k-65k SL on avg) would solve the issue. Top tier used to be somewhat fun and balanced before "New Power" but with the BB introduction that all became history. These things should not be facing Cruisers and destroyers.

If you're planning to burn the crew to death by peppering them with HE, sure good luck doing that for 20 minutes. Your guns won’t do anything against them. If you're not in a battleship but versing one your only options are to lob torpedoes at them or somehow earn enough spawn points and die to try your luck with a dive bomber. But in turn it absolutely destroyed the game balance. Battleships definitely attracted more players. This again goes side by side with the compression issue. Sure it's a lot more complicated than it sounds but they're going to have to figure something out fast because no one is really enjoying the compression. Separate battle ratings for separate game modes is the only solution I can think of here. As it's only a matter of time before more powerful ships will be added and judging by the current rate, they are going to have to balance them alongside supersonic jets. If this is in fact their reason, I do understand why it's so compressed but if it's going to continue like this the future of naval will be a ticking time bomb. I'm guessing this has something to do with trying to achieve a balance alongside aircraft BRs. The uptiers are often and they're not fun at all. Currently playing anything over 5.3 if you're not in a battleship is simply pointless unless you're doing it for the sole purpose of grinding.

To hell with the realism."Īnd yet they wonder why new players leave naval.Īs of now, once you get to BR 5.0 in naval RB, the battle ratings become so hilariously compressed to levels where in extreme cases destroyers will have to face dreadnought battleships. And in order to level it up they have to play an extremely slow game mode with extremely low reward modifiers and extremely low number of players waiting in extremely long queue times. Imagine getting faced with the above-mentioned problems and then also finding out that there's also a thing called crew leveling and it affects the effectiveness of the ship. Put yourself in the shoes of a new player who just downloaded War Thunder just to play naval. I myself didn't really had that much of an issue with it as I had a lot of spare points collected from air RB. Now I know most experienced players don't really pay much attention to crew leveling as they know how and when to level it up. If you have a new-ish crew the chance of you getting caught in fires, dying by ammo room detonations, the crew percentage of your ship (a.k.a the health bar of your ship), your reload rate, turret traverse, time it takes to repair and basically the overall survivability of the ship gets dramatically low. I don't know about ground RB but in air RB the level of your crew does not really make the vehicle in question unplayable.
